We're Cursed! [Lovino] Empty We're Cursed! [Lovino]

Post  Gilbert Beilschmidt Tue Oct 05, 2010 12:11 pm

It was always the Egyptian artefacts, wasn't it? Gilbert shuddered as he stared at the tablet in front of him. Why is it that he always had to be the one to look over the crazy cursed Egyptian treasures? 'Lovino must plan it this way,' he thought, sifting through his supplies. With a mourning sigh, he set to work. It was easy enough to identify at least and the hieroglyphics on it were oh so helpful in the process, if a little bit sinister.

Yes, it would seem that this particular tablet was very, very cursed. It was part of a tomb, so there were probably ten other non-written curses on this thing that he didn't even know about it. He began to wonder when it would make his eyes explode into a swarm of locusts or whatever else they cursed it with. He wished that he didn't have to do this.

At least it was light. He lifted the tablet up and turned to bring it over to another table, only to crash into his lab partner and drop the priceless artefact on the ground. The cursed priceless artefact. He stared at the tablet, which now had a large crack running through it. "Lovino...don't panic, but....I think we're going to get eaten by locusts."

Right. Shit. No, he was definitely panicking.

Lovino had been having a good morning. He had gotten Feliciano to let him drive to work and arrived earlier than he planned- not that he was complaining. The Italian loved going to work each morning, even if his partner got on his nerves more often than not. But his love for his job ended up making up for it and Lovino learned how to deal with the German. One of his favorite methods was by making the obnoxious bastard work on the cursed Egyptian artifacts.

So while he was working with a bunch of coins, his partner was stuck with the cursed artifact. He smirked lightly as he shifted through the money, pen in hand as he examined each one. His work was slow, but he was trying to do his job right. …Unlike some people.

As soon as the Italian went to look over his shoulder at the German, the man bumped into him. He heard the crash of the tablet hitting the ground and he felt his heart drop. Gilbert didn’t…right?

Looking over his shoulder, Lovino’s fears were met…and Gilbert’s words didn’t make things any better.
“You fucking bastard,” he hissed, staring at the tablet on the ground, his stomach twisting painfully as he tried to calm himself down. He pushed his glasses further up his nose. “How many times do I have to tell you to be careful with the Goddamn artifacts!? You’re going to kill us both now and I don’t really feel like dying anytime soon! Fuck!”

Nope. Lovino was not a happy camper. An ancient Egyptian curse was going kill them both because Gilbert was a stupid idiot.

Feliciano was not going to be happy.

"Ahh! What are you doing?! I just said don't panic!!" he growled as he picked the tablet up and placed it on the nearest clean surface. Luckily the crack did not go all the way through, though it was still pretty large. Did cracking a cursed object unlock the curse, or did it have to be completely broken? Gilbert couldn't remember; the only thing going on in his mind right now was that he might wake up to scarabs eating his brain. The mental imagery made him shudder.

He leaned in close to the tablet, examining the crack carefully. Fortunately, it was pretty shallow. Maybe the curse wasn't even activated yet? He didn't know exactly how curses worked, despite always ending up being the one who had to look at "cursed" artefacts. Sending Lovino a glare, he snapped back, "Well maybe if you paid attention to where you were going, I wouldn't have dropped it."

“I’m not panicking, you damn idiot. If I was really panicking, I’d be attacking you,” Lovino hissed in response, moving to get a closer look at the tablet. He hoped Gilbert hadn’t done something incredibly bad. …And maybe the damage wasn’t as bad as they had originally thought. Egyptian curses tended to be tricky things…so maybe there was a slim chance they’d get away with no punishment…or die in painful ways.

…Maybe he shouldn’t go home tonight. That way Feliciano wouldn’t have to deal with any curse he brought back with him.

“I didn’t even move, idiot,” he snapped back, returning the glare with enough force to melt ice. “You’re the one that walked into me. You should learn to be more careful around cursed objects.” The Italian barely resisted the urge to smack Gilbert. Barely. He was not happy with the albino and he was sure the other could tell.

“Fuck. This is going to come out of our pay too. You really need to pay attention to what the hell you’re doing, asshole.” He ran his fingers through his hair and took a deep breath in an effort to calm down.

Honestly? Lovino was really starting to grate on his nerves. Whoever had decided to pair these two up was obviously incredibly stupid and needed to be thrown off the nearest skyscraper. Lovi and him just clashed far too much in personality to ever get along, even during trying times like these. He growled and pushed the hovering Italian out of his thinking space, it was impossible to work with someone staring over your shoulder like that. "Well, if you think I suck so much at handling cursed artefacts, why don't you fucking do it yourself next time! And shut the hell up, it's impossible to work with you whining in my ear the whole time."

The damage wasn't bad, the curse shouldn't activate from such a small break, would it? Feeling satisfied, he turned to his partner and smirked, "Why don't you just go back to counting your coins. This is fine"

Yes, they were most likely safe. He gave his grumpy companion's forehead a flick and turned back to what he had been doing before the incident occurred. Maybe he had instilled enough fear in Lovino to make him work with the cursed tablets from now on as well!

The Italian stumbled backwards with a frown, watching the German working. Goddamn bastard. Who the hell did he think he was? Lovino wasn’t someone to be pushed around. That was what Feliciano was around for- not him. He huffed. “I’m not doing it myself, you bastard,” he snarled, resisting the temptation to move a bit closer to the German to get a better look at the artifact. “I was not whining in your ear either. I haven’t really said anything since I started to work on my damn coins. Maybe your ears need to be cleaned or something.”

The temptation was too much for him, especially when Gilbert mentioned the break being so slight. He moved closer to the German with another glare. “I’m not going back to the damn coins until I can make sure we’re not going to die horrible deaths or something,” he replied, looking closer at the tablet, trying to take in the damage.

“Here. Let me see the fucking thing, will you?” he asked, holding his hand out expectantly. He wasn’t going to be satisfied until they could put the tablet back together or…at least make it look like it had never been dropped. He didn’t want to risk losing his job over something that Gilbert did. He wasn’t overly fond of his partner so there was no way he was going to take the blame if their mishap was discovered.

With a roll of his eyes, Gilbert turned to his frustrating partner and frowned. This kid really needed to get out of his way, or he was going to get angry. "Hm, that's funny. For not saying anything you sure are talking a lot."

When the Italian moved in closer to look at the artefact again, he had to refrain from shoving him back. That would only get him mad and make him even more unbearable. "Listen Lovino," he said, placing his hands on the other's shoulders and steered him back to the coins, "You are going to be fine. Now go back to your damn coins or I'll throw you out of the room."

At this point, he really was ready to throw his partner out of the room, it's not like Lovino was that heavy anyway. Plus it would get the other out of his hair while he worked.

Lovino felt his face heat up in embarrassment as he glared at the German. “You’re being incredibly annoying too,” he grumbled with a glare, not backing down from his partner. The other was being an idiot, It wasn’t like letting him help was a bad thing, right?

The Italian spun on his heel and pushed past Gilbert to go back to the tablet. The German’s threat meant nothing to him; he was just going to ignore it. There was no way Gilbert was going to be able to pick him up and throw him out of the room…at least he wasn’t going to be able to be picked up without a fight. He moved closer to the tablet, reaching out to touch it, wanting to get a closer look. Were they really going to be cursed? He wasn’t sure.

..But he knew he wasn’t going to leave without trying to get a better look at the damn thing and keep the crack from getting any worse.

    "Annoying? I'm never annoy-- HEY!"

Gilbert stumbled as he was shoved to the side and Lovino darted back over to the tablet. The nerve of this kid! Here he was, trying to be helpful and the Italian was going to throw all of his hard work out the window. Well, not on his watch.

As soon as Lovino reached out to touch the tablet, Gilbert threw his arms around the others waist and hoisted him off the ground. Oh man, was he heavier than he looked! Instead of throwing him out of the door, which had been the original plan, he ended up stumbling backwards and causing them both to fall over.

He coughed, the wind knocked out of him by the Italian on top of him. "D-Don't touch that!"

The Italian couldn’t help it. When he felt the albino hit him, he yelped. He didn’t mean to yelp…it was just that he hadn’t expected the stupid idiot to actually jump him like that. What the hell kind of a person did that? Looking down at the German below him, it was easy to take a guess.

Speaking of Gilbert, what the hell was he doing there? They were so close and the position they were in… Oh God. Lovino’s eyes widened in realization and he quickly pushed away from his partner, stumbling backwards.
“W-what the hell, bastard!?” he exclaimed, clearly thinking about the wrong thing again. Oh God. His mind was amazing…

Stumbling back a bit more, Lovino found the table, his fingers trying to hold onto the edge to regain his balance and to help him stand up straight again. His fingers, however, found the tablet, and before he knew what was happening, his grip slipped and the stupid artifact was falling…

“Fuck,” he said, his one word summarizing the situation as the crack grew bigger.

Deciding that he had enough of the situation, Gilbert lay on the ground, ignoring when Lovino got up in favour of trying to get his breathing back to normal. Screw that Italian, if he wanted to get cursed at this point, no one was going to stop him. Hearing his partner stumble and crash around the lab was actually quite amusing, or it was until he heard the telltale clatter of a certain cursed object's reunion with the floor.

The German sat up, alarmed, as he heard Lovino's curse. The Egyptian tablet was on the floor again, the crack on it now at least twice as big. This didn't look too good. If the curse didn't get to them, management surely would. "Fucking...God dammit Lovino! What the hell did you do?!"

He growled in anger and moved over to the artefact to inspect the damage, which was probably more than a fill in fix with some putty at this point. "This is going to be such a bitch to repair. I hope you're happy, dummkopf! " he snapped up to his companion in frustration.

It wasn't entirely the Italian's fault, and he knew that, but it was still hard to keep from yelling at him. Perhaps this was the curse? No, the other had been plenty clumsy before the tablet was even recovered. He scooped up the piece carefully and placed it back on the table. Fuck curses, they could suck his balls at this point. Later on he could worry about that, for now he just wanted to keep his job.

The Italian stared at the floor in shock, his mind trying to process what the hell just happened. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard his partner’s voice, frowning as he began to panic. G-goddamn it. He really didn’t need Gilbert yelling at him right now. He could tell things weren’t good; he did have two eyes and some common sense. There was no reason for the German bastard to be yelling at him like that.

“What the hell did I do!?” he replied, stepping back when the forensic specialist came over. “I tripped and when I tried to keep from hurting myself, I grabbed the tablet instead of the table, jackass. It was a fucking accident.” He glared at the light haired German, incredibly tempted to lean over and smack him. Why the hell was Gilbert blaming him?

“It’s not my fault the damn thing’s broken. You’re the one who cracked it in the first place, asshole. Half the blame rests on you. So don’t you dare blame it all on me.” He huffed and moved away, letting Gilbert do what he wanted. “A-and don’t you dare insult me in that horrible language of yours.” He didn’t know what the word meant, but he knew he didn’t like it. It sounded like something bad, and knowing Gilbert…it was.

The Italian sighed, moving to the other side of Gilbert’s table, trying to get a better look at the tablet.
“We can still fix it. So stop getting so annoyed with me,” he grumbled, pressing his glasses closer to his face. He didn’t want them falling and breaking and having Gilbert flip out at him for it. “A-and if we manage to fix it, we won’t be cursed.” Hopefully.
